Frequently asked questions
If your question isn't here, just message us — we usually reply within the hour.
Where exactly is Cragmhor?
We're in Balquhidder, near Lochearnhead in Stirlingshire — postcode FK19 8PB — inside the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. The house sits in Balquhidder Glen with open views across the meadows and mountains, and the loch is a short walk away.
What are the check-in and checkout times?
Check-in is between 3:00pm and 9:00pm, and checkout is before 10:00am. If your travel plans don't fit those hours, tell us when you book — we can almost always work something out.
Is breakfast provided?
Guests have full use of the kitchen, and we keep it stocked with starter essentials: milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, plus cooking basics, so you can make your own breakfast whenever suits you. Many guests take it out onto the decking and watch the glen wake up.
Can I cook my own meals?
Yes. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas hob, oven and grill, a fridge freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, along with crockery, glassware, pots and pans. There's a dining table indoors and an outdoor dining area in the garden.
Is there parking?
Yes — free private parking on site for cars and motorcycles, including an accessible space. No permit, no charge, no need to book it.
Is the house accessible?
The Room in the Mountains is on the ground floor and the whole of that floor, bathroom included, is step-free — guests using wheelchairs have stayed comfortably. There's an accessible parking space too. The Family Suite is upstairs and does involve stairs, so it isn't suitable if you need step-free access.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Super-fast fibre-optic Wi-Fi reaches throughout the house and the garden. There's a dedicated workspace if you need to get something done.
Is there a TV?
No, and deliberately so. There's a log-burning stove in the kitchen, a shared living room, a house full of artwork, and a glen outside that changes by the hour. Guests tend not to miss it.
Can you take families and young children?
Yes. The Family Suite sleeps up to five across a king bed, a double and a three-seater sofa that works as a child's bed, and there's a travel cot always available with linen provided. Do mention ages when you enquire so we can set the room up properly.
Are pets welcome?
Please just ask before you book. It depends on the room and who else is staying, so it's best to check with us rather than assume either way.
How do I pay if I book direct?
Nothing is charged on this website — you send a request, we confirm your dates and the total, and then you secure the booking by payment link or bank transfer, whichever you prefer. Card details are never entered on this site.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellation terms are set out in writing when we confirm your booking, before you pay anything. If your plans change, get in touch as early as you can and we'll do what we reasonably can to help.
Is it really cheaper to book direct?
Booking platforms add a guest service fee on top of the nightly rate. Booking with us directly removes that fee from your total, and it means the person answering your questions is the person who'll be there when you arrive.
What is there to do nearby?
Hill walking straight from the door, cycling along the loch, wild swimming, and woodland walks. Mhor 84 is the local spot for a hearty meal by the fire, and Mhor in Store next door is worth a browse. Just ask and we'll point you at our favourite hikes, the quiet swimming spots and the best places to eat — and we can help arrange a private sauna session in the glen.
