An artist's home
Cragmhor is thoughtfully lived in and lovingly cared for, radiating warmth, character, and the energy of the mountains around it. Every space is hung with the artist's own work, which gives the house an authenticity that no amount of decorating achieves.
Guests often ask about the paintings, and there's usually a story behind each one. I'm always happy to tell them — one guest wrote that I “shared some incredible stories about the powerful paintings all over the house”.
The kitchen is the heart of it
Guests are welcome to cook, and the kitchen is properly equipped for it — gas hob, oven and grill, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, and all the crockery, glassware and pans you would need. Starter essentials are there as standard: milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper.
The window above the sink looks straight out over the glen, and the dining room next door has windows on two sides. Beyond it there is a living room to settle into, with a fire for the colder months.
Outside
A private garden with decking and a rockery is the spot for a morning coffee or an evening meal, looking out across the ever-changing views of the glen. Wildlife is part of daily life here — deer move across the landscape most mornings, red squirrels come through the trees, and birds gather at the feeder. Swallows sweep the sky in summer, and mornings sometimes arrive wrapped in mountain mist.

Where you'll be
Balquhidder, near Lochearnhead, inside Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. It's a quiet and friendly village with mountains to climb, walks in every direction, and the loch a short walk from the house. The old kirkyard in the village is the burial place of Rob Roy MacGregor.
