Hills and munros

Balquhidder Glen is ringed by mountains, and there are walks straight from the door for every level — from a gentle hour along the glen floor to a full day on the tops.

From the doorstep

Wild swimming

The loch is a short walk from the house and a beautiful place to swim or simply sit. We know the quieter spots and are happy to share them.

A short walk

Cycling by the loch

The road along the loch makes for a lovely ride through the heart of the valley, with the water on one side and the hills on the other.

From the doorstep

Wildlife watching

Deer cross the meadow most mornings — guests have counted a dozen from the back garden. Red squirrels, woodpeckers and swallows are regulars, and there's a feeder by the window.

In the garden

Mhor 84

The local favourite for hearty food by the fireside, breakfast through dinner. Mhor in Store next door is full of local art, gifts and unusual finds.

Nearby

A private sauna in the glen

We can help arrange a private sauna session locally — the right way to finish a long day on the hill.

Arranged on request

Woodland walks

Quiet forest paths and waterside trails within easy reach, good in any weather and especially fine when the mist is down.

Nearby

Balquhidder Kirkyard

The old kirkyard in the village is the burial place of Rob Roy MacGregor, and is worth the short wander even if you only half-remember the story.

Just ask

We're always happy to share our favourite local spots — dinner, cosy drinks, scenic hikes and the quieter wild swimming places that don't make it into guidebooks. Guests consistently say the recommendations were among the best parts of the stay.
